The trend of wearers of fake eyeglasses has also taken a toll on those who have to wear prescription lenses to counteract bad eyesight. People sometimes feel as if the glasses they are forced to wear ostracize themselves because of the way they look, projecting a poor self-image. Young children who learn of their failing eyesight are often victims of such thought.
