The trend of wearers of fake eyeglasses has also taken a toll on those who have to wear prescription lenses to counteract bad eyesight. People sometimes feel as if the glasses they are forced to wear ostracize themselves because of the way they look, projecting a poor self-image. Young children who learn of their failing eyesight are often victims of such thought. When these people see others who are not forced to wear glasses but choose to do so strictly out of vanity, oftentimes a feeling of resentment is felt for the person actually prescribed the glasses in the first place...
